Men About Progress (MAP) is an impactful mentorship program designed to support men of color throughout their college journey.
Moreover, MAP is a dedicated support program committed to increasing retention and success among men of color at LCC.
Program Structure
Monthly Program Meetings
Every month, MAP scholars will engage in a variety of topics that resonate with the experiences of men of color, including: goal setting, problem-solving, networking, experiencing microaggressions, and community engagement.
Next Level Networking
MAP scholars will meet with mentors during programs meeting and engage with campus and community mentors during monthly Next Level Networking sessions. During these sessions, MAP scholars are encouraged to learn about mentors’ academic and career trajectories and engage in dialogue surrounding overcoming barriers to achieve goals.

2024-2025
- Brion G. Waters, StarZone - Enrollment Support Specialist
- I moved to Lansing from Detroit at a young age and cherishes the simple joys of life—especially time spent with family and getting away to Harbor Springs whenever possible. With a deep appreciation for the beauty of Northern Michigan, I love to explore the lakes, trails, and small-town charm of the area. When not enjoying the great outdoors, you'll likely find me sharing laughs and making memories with loved ones. From Lansing to Harbor Springs, family, nature, and good times are at the heart of it all.
- Owolola Olusile, Center for Student Support - Student Support Service Specialist
- Originally from Nigeria, I hold a Bachelor's degree in Counseling, along with certifications in entrepreneurship. In addition to my professional role, I am a passionate Afro-centric fashion designer, focusing on diversity and inclusivity. I own and manage a clothing production factory in Nigeria, contributing to the local fashion industry. I’m very passionate about meeting and helping people I draw inspiration from diverse personalities and cultures, blending creativity and cultural richness into my designs while supporting others on their personal journeys.
