About the Cesar Chavez Multicultural Center

Olga M. Correa, Ph.D. (she/her/ella) is an educator, higher education administrator, and first-generation college graduate. She is committed to creating both supportive and inclusive environments on college campuses through her work collaborating with diverse groups of students, faculty, administrators, and community members to improve access and retention amongst students of color, first-generation students, LGBTQ+ students, and other marginalized students in higher education.

Olga holds a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Her research examines how race, ethnicity, and class impact educational opportunities for historically marginalized communities and works alongside families and youth to challenge and dismantle educational policies and practices that uphold racial discrimination. Olga received her M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and her B.A. in Sociology from William Paterson University.

Carmen L. Bell, M.M., is a passionate higher education administrator, pedagogist and a visionary leader with a keen sense for strategy and forward thinking. She possesses a decade of experience in leading, designing, developing, and implementing educational courses and programs in higher education and non-profits.

Carmen's continued commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion stems from her own experiences as a student of color. She continues to cultivate an inclusive learning environment where diversity and individual differences are understood, respected, appreciated, and recognized as a source of strength. She has worked in enrollment services, advising, and as a music educator. Carmen received her M.M. from Eastern Michigan University and her B.M. from Western Michigan University.

Isabel Loza is an out-of-state student majoring in Transfer Studies at Lansing Community College, with the goal of pursuing a degree in engineering at the University of Michigan. She has had various volunteer experiences in healthcare outreach and an engineering scholarship program. Isabel enjoys spending time with family and traveling to diverse places to experience their cultures.

Rudy Gelista is a Lansing native majoring in transfer studies at Lansing Community College, with plans to transfer to Michigan State University for accounting. He aspires to become a financial auditor. Outside of his studies, Rudy enjoys going to the gym and spending time with friends and family.

Portia Amponsah is an international student from Ghana pursuing a career in nursing at Lansing Community College. In her free time, she enjoys reading comics, listening to various types of music, and exploring new experiences.

Mia Bean-Tuck (she/her/hers) is an architecture student at Lansing Community College with dreams of creating and designing comfortable and affordable housing for people in her hometown of Lansing. Before starting at LCC in the fall of 2024, she was the President of Okemos High School's Black Student Union and a History and English tutor for Spanish-speaking exchange students through the National Honors Society, which helped foster her passion for creating and supporting the voices of students of color. When she isn't in the Cesar Chavez Multicultural Center, you can find her exploring MSU, enjoying music, and studying at the TLC.

Micah Mitchell is a Lansing native majoring in transfer studies at Lansing Community College, with plans to transfer to Michigan State University for communications in media. Micah is considering a career as a broadcast journalist or a public relations specialist. Outside of his studies, Micah enjoys working out, listening to music, dancing, drawing and spending time with friends and family.
