Hola, Bonjour, Hello! I've been at LCC since 2006, shortly after moving here from the West Coast. I started my career at LCC with the Women's Resource Center/Returning Adult Program then transitioned to Academic Advising. My educational degrees focused on pedagogy, writing and languages; and my career pathways have included working for non-profits in youth development and employment, criminal justice, interpreting, and in the corporate sector. Recently, I completed the Global Career Development Facilitator training and received my certification in GCDF.
Talking to students about how to achieve your academic and career goals drives my practice, as well as checking in with what keeps you in school and persevering towards the success of your making. As a dual citizen, bilingual/bicultural individual, I love traveling, mostly visiting friends and family around the world. Encouraging others to embrace opportunities, explore and be lifelong learners is one of my specialties in life. Calendar Schedule AppointmentEva Menefee

Academic Advisor
Sagoli/Annii/Hello, my name is Eva Menefee and I am the Lead Faculty Advisor here at Lansing Community College. I have been at LCC for over 20 years, but prior to coming to LCC, I worked at Michigan State University for 10. I am originally from Dearborn Heights, and came to Lansing to go to school at MSU with every intention of returning to the Detroit area. After all these years, I am still here.
I worked at MSU, after my BA in Elementary Education was complete, as an Assistant Director of Admission (while doing a graduate degree in College Student Personnel), then I became an Academic Advisor in the Undergraduate University Division. My final position at MSU was as the Coordinator of the Michigan College University Partnership (MiCUP) which gave me insight into the workings of LCC. I was able to help minority students who attended LCC to transfer to MSU seamlessly.
I have been at LCC since 1994 in my current position and have enjoyed the variety of students I have come in contact with. Currently not only do I work with students in the Advising office, I also teach the First Year Experience (ACAD 101). I love helping new students find their path in college and helping then define their goals and find a pathway to achieving them. I know a lot about the processes of transferring, especially to MSU, as well as achieving your degree here at LCC.
On a personal note, my husband, two children and my little dog, Toby, call Lansing our home. During the summer, my family has a food trailer and we go to Native American Pow Wows and Ethnic Festivals. I have a secret wish to be the Next Food Network Star! I enjoy sports, especially Hockey, and I love the movies.

I attended Central Michigan University and received a BSBA in Business Management and Psychology. Before my journey into higher education, I was an entrepreneur owning my restaurant, catering, ice cream, and popcorn business. After selling my business I went back into human resources working for various organizations from furniture manufacturers to healthcare organizations. Then I worked in development at Hope College in Holland, Michigan and found a passion for working with students. I then obtained a graduate assistantship in the College Student Affairs Leadership (CSAL) program at Grand Valley State University (GVSU) in transfer advising and counseling/career services.
After graduating with my M.Ed, I started a position with the TRiO program Student Support Services (SSS) and worked for a decade (two grant cycles) helping countless first-generation college students achieve their dreams. Before leaving my SSS role, I sourced and was co-PI on the Fostering Success grant that was funded for GVSU for $375,000.
Marnie relocated across the country to Arizona for five years where she worked for several colleges at the University of Arizona (UA) - the College of Medicine, the College of Law (COL), and the College of Engineering (COE). With the COL and COE, she worked with global partnerships in China, Cambodia, Indonesia, Jordan, Peru, and Vietnam.
The diversity of the student population at LCC keeps me challenged, excited, and resourceful to help them achieve their dreams and goals! My vast career and advising experience allows me to speak to a wide array of majors and career paths.
