This week's employer spotlight is with Open Arms Link
We asked Takudzwa Chiduma, Senior Office Manager, some questions about working for the company.
What makes your company a great place to work?
Open Arms is a family owned and operated company. We pride ourselves in making sure our employees are cared for and feel like family. We understand in order to care for someone you must be cared for yourself.
Describe the culture of your company.
The culture of our company is welcoming, and we have an open-door policy in our office. We like to ensure that our employees are physically and mentally healthy.
What majors do you hire?
We hire mostly psychology and nursing majors in our company but we do not limit ourselves to these majors and invite anyone who has a heart for caring for people.
What skills and/or experiences do you look for in candidates?
We look at skills such as:
- Assisting residents in personal hygiene care.
- General housekeeping tasks.
- Assisting consumers in being involved in community activities and outings.
- Administering medications, treatments, and therapy programs as trained.
- Ability to communicate with supervisors and clinicians.
- Availability to meet scheduled obligations and to provide appropriate “bridging” care when needed.
Do you offer internship programs?

Is there anything else you would like to share?
Since opening this non-profit we have used government funding to cover costs involving resident care. After the Covid 19 pandemic fundraising is becoming a priority for our company due to overtime and staff retention. We plan to partner up with local companies to find solutions to get our residents supplies they need.
We will be holding our annual benefit dinner and art auction on May 20, 2023 to raise awareness in the community about adult foster care. We hope this event will educate the public and bring individuals who may be interested in patient care to our company.
Open Arms Link will be at LCC’s Downtown Campus, Career Center – Gannon Building Room 2219, Wednesday, April 5 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
