The Honors Program at Lansing Community College offers enriched courses, special advising services, community service options, and other enhanced learning opportunities for students capable of a more challenging experience in higher education.
Each year, the program offers awards to new students who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and plan to complete a two-year transfer curriculum at LCC and then transfer to a four-year institution to pursue a bachelor's degree. College-wide, more than 2,000 students have participated in the Honors Program.
Honors Program Information & Criteria
LCC is committed to providing you with access to resources which can assist in paying for your education. As part of meeting that commitment, we award hundreds of institutionally- funded scholarships to our students every year. We're glad that you have chosen to study at Lansing Community College. We encourage you to look over the awards and scholarships below and to apply for the one which seems to be the best fit for you.
Criteria
Lansing Community College offers Honors Program Awards to new and continuing students who:
- Have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement.
- Follow an approved LCC program pathway.
- Plan to complete a two-year associate degree seeking program (Associate in Arts, Associate in Business, Associate in Science, Associate in Applied Arts or Associate in Applied Science, or transfer to a four-year institution.
- Want to be an active participant in the LCC Honors Program.
An award recipient must:
- Be a resident of the state of Michigan. Learn more information regarding residency requirements.
- Be a high school graduate
- Plan to enroll in and successfully complete at least twelve academic credits in the Fall and Spring semesters. Summer semester enrollment is optional. Summer semester requires at least three approved credits.
- Have a cumulative high school grade point average of at least 3.5
- Have a composite SAT score of at least a 1110 or a composite ACT score of at least 22, or a score of 7 on the writing and math placement tests as determined by the LCC Testing Center.
Selection is based on:
- Grade point average
- SAT/ACT scores; placement levels
- A written personal statement
Additional Application Requirements
- SAT/ACT scores must be uploaded to the General Scholarship Application or placement scores

Honors Program Award recipients automatically become members of the LCC Honors Program and must participate as a condition of the award.

Honors Program Requirements
In order to maintain their membership in the Honors Program and retain their Honors Program Award, students must:
- Follow an approved LCC program pathway.
- Maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher.
- Successfully complete at least twelve approved credits fall and spring semesters.
- Successfully complete at least three Honors courses or sections each academic year.
- Successfully complete Honors Colloquy each fall semester.
- Submit their proposed class schedules for approval before registering each semester.
