Lansing Community College

As part of Lansing Community Colleges continuing efforts to provide equity, inclusivity, a sense of belonging, and support for the whole individual we are pleased to announce the opening of a prayer and meditation room.

Users are asked to sign in and out of the space and to please disinfect any space used while in the prayer and meditation room.

The prayer and meditation room is offered by the Office of Diversity & Inclusion (ODI) and is overseen by the Centre for Engaged Inclusion (CEI). Designed to provide a space to rest and reflect for 10, 20, 30 minutes, etc. the prayer and meditation room has mats and cushions on the floor, separated spaces for individuals to have an individual space to relax and refresh, and the opportunity for LCC employees to hold mindfulness practices within the space.

Prayer and Meditation Room

Location:
Gannon Building, Room 3225

Meditation rooms are proven to assist in cultivating innovation, center on breathing, and being still amidst deadlines and hectic activities.

Meditation and mindful require practice, and studies found that meditation reduces workplace stress, and according to Harvard research, meditation even helps sick employees with "an array of conditions both physical and mental, including irritable bowel syndrome, fibromyalgia, psoriasis, anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder." And the Wellness Institute at Cleveland Clinic found that "mindfulness-based techniques, including meditation, can lower stress levels in a demanding work environment and lead to happier, more engaged employees."
