Lansing Community College

Thank you for choosing Lansing Community College. Whether you are working toward an associate degree, certificate, or two-year transfer degree, LCC has a program designed for your success.

As part of our commitment to provide you with access to resources that can assist in paying for your education, Lansing Community College offers scholarships to new qualified international students with an F-1, M-1, or J-1 visa. Scholarships are resources that do not have to be paid back and may be based on financial need.

To be considered for a scholarship, applicants must be a first-time Lansing Community college student and must complete the online LCC International Student Scholarship Application.

New international students must complete the following steps prior to applying for the scholarship
  • Complete the admissions application
  • Receive your student number
  • Claim your account in order to receive your username and password

Prepare to Complete the
International Student Scholarship Application

Your essay is made up of four questions.
  • Educational Goals: Tell us about the program you plan to study at LCC, any plans you have for education beyond LCC, and why you have chosen this area of study
  • Career or Occupational Goals: Tell us about the occupation or profession you are interested in and why you are interested. Be sure to include any work or volunteer related experience you have had in this area and how the scholarship would help you achieve this goal
  • Global Views: Tell us about coming to the U.S. for the first time or already being in the U.S. Describe the affect this will have or has had on the program you plan to study.
  • Personal History: Tell us about yourself and your life. Tell us about any personal history of hardship, obstacles, or difficult times that you have overcome or any special circumstance that exists in your life that the scholarship could help you overcome.

In addition to the International Student Scholarship Application, information from your LCC record and your application documents will be considered when making scholarship decisions.

Award notification will be sent to your LCC email address, your home address by mail (if you have a local address), and your preferred email address (if provided).

Scholarship awards are announced within 4 to 6 weeks of application submission.

The scholarship will be awarded for two semesters (Fall, Spring or Spring, Fall, no summer award). It may be used for a maximum of four semesters over two consecutive years. Advancement of the second year's award is contingent upon the successful completion of twelve credits in each of the previous two semesters, a cumulative 3.0 GPA, and maintaining your current visa status.
