Geology is concerned with studying the materials, processes and history of the Earth. Geologists collect physical and chemical data, analyze natural processes, and predict future results while attempting to determine how these affect people and resources.

Geologists analyze earth materials from microscopic to global scale phenomena. They utilize time frames from seconds and years to project understand of millions of years. They examine locations, resources, changes in environment, and human/environmental interactions in different regions of the world.

Careers that explore natural resources, environmental problems and environmental remediation allow a person with a geology background to draw upon both their scientific training and sense of ethical responsibility.
