LCC's Ultrasound: Diganostic Medical Sonography (DMS) program is selective admission. In order to be considered as a candidate, students must meet admission requirements beyond those required for general admission to the college. As a student in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, you’ll learn to operate sophisticated equipment that produces images of the human body to assist physicians in medical diagnoses. Your cohort will begin in the summer and will study both in the classroom and at hospitals and clinics that offer hands-on experience in this exciting field.
The Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ultrasound) program is nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) upon the recommendation of The Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRC-DMS).

Sonography, or ultrasonography, is the use of sound waves to generate an image used for assessment and diagnosis of various medical conditions. Diagnostic medical sonographers, also known as “ultrasonographers,” use special equipment to direct high frequency sound waves into areas of the patient's body. Sonographers operate the equipment that collects reflected echoes and forms an image that may be videotaped, transmitted, or photographed for interpretation and diagnosis by a physician.

Vascular Technology, CC
Overview
Vascular Technology is a specialty area within the Sonography field. To be eligible to participate in this curriculum, you must have already graduated from an accredited Sonography program or have RDMS or RT(S) credentials. The best information regarding the program is in the Advising guide; guides are released each year and include detailed information on the program layout, application process, admission requirements, cost, and more.
Once admitted into the program, it is 2 semesters long and starts every September. The program is completed mostly online, but does have 4 weekend labs each semester.
This certificate includes the instructional component of the preparation that students need to take either the examination by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). It provides the didactic and applied instruction necessary for students to be competent in the specialty of Vascular Sonography. Students must also seek clinical verification in order to sit for their registry exam.
