EKG Technician, CC
Overview
This certificate is designed to prepare a person to safely and skillfully work as an EKG technician, also known as a cardiology technician at certain facilities. An EKG technician works primarily in a hospital but could also work in an outpatient clinic or cardiology practice. Completers of this curriculum meet the requirements to take any one of the various exams for EKG certification.

Overview
Job prospects for acute and long-term care nurse assistants will be very good because of the growing population of elderly people. These jobs offer entry into health care employment. The flexibility of night and weekend hours also provides high school and college students a chance to work during the school year.

Medical Assistant, CA
Overview
The purpose of this program is to produce educated, highly skilled, credentialed medical assistants to meet the needs of our community in its many ambulatory care settings. This three- semester program is designed for each student to successfully achieve all of the competencies listed on the Medical Assistant Educational Review Board (MAERB) Master Competency list. The focus is on credentialing requirements, including a 160-hour practicum which prepares the student for gainful employment. Upon successful completion of the certificate of achievement students are eligible to take the Registered Medical Assistant exam to become nationally credentialed. You must be an LCC student to apply.

Medical Insurance Billing and Coding, CC
Overview
Introduction to insurance billing, diagnostic and procedure coding, legal and compliance issues, responsibilities and their relationship to insurances. The course provides computerized billing information, comprehensive billing directions, major insurance providers, managed care, and worker's compensation as well as inpatient and outpatient hospital-based services. Includes lecture and a second semester externship. Successful completion provides eligibility to take the national coding certification exam. Medical Insurance Billing and Coding may take three semesters to complete.

Patient Care Technician, CC
Overview
This certificate curriculum will prepare an individual for employment as a patient care technician in a hospital or other acute care delivery setting. Students will learn the knowledge and skills needed in order to provide safe basic patient care, including basic phlebotomy and EKG. Upon successful completion, students are eligible to take the National Certification exam for Patient Care Technicians.

Pharmacy Technician, CC
Overview
Pharmacy technicians help licensed pharmacists provide medication and other healthcare products to patients. Technicians usually perform routine tasks to help prepare prescribed medication for patients, such as counting tablets and labeling bottles. Technicians refer any questions regarding prescriptions, drug information, or health matters to a pharmacist. Technicians receive written prescriptions or requests for prescription refills from patients. They also may receive prescriptions sent electronically from the doctor’s office they may work in many different settings.

Phlebotomy Technician, CC
Overview
The Phlebotomy Technician Program consists of two courses for a total of six credits taken in two semesters, with the second course being an Externship. This course is designed to prepare the student to function as a phlebotomy technician. It will provide the knowledge and skill necessary to safely and skillfully ensure patient identification, obtain a blood sample from a patient, and properly handle specimens after collection. The course includes lecture, campus lab and a second semester externship. Successful completion of the Program qualifies the student to take the ASCP National Certification Exam.
