When the General Education Core is required for degree completion, students only need to take one course from each of the following five Core areas:
- Communication
- Global Perspectives and Diversity
- Mathematics
- Science
- Writing
When choosing your General Education Core courses, please be aware that the selection of courses available to meet Core is based on your program pathway. If you are following a program pathway of Fall 2019 or earlier, you may choose from the list below. Students following a program pathway dated Fall 2020 or later should refer to the current General Education options.
General Education Core Requirements for:
Fall 2019 - Summer 2020, and earlier
Effective Fall 2016 - Fall 2019
Only one course is needed from each of the five General Education Core categories. Some pathways identify specific Core courses that are required to complete the degree, so students should use their pathway and this list of Core courses to determine which courses to take. A 2.0 grade or higher is required in these courses to satisfy the General Education Core requirements.
