Train for a career in law enforcement and keep your community safe with the Mid-Michigan Police Academy at Lansing Community College. The 17-week program will provide students with more than 700 hours of training designed for basic law enforcement skills. The curriculum will cover such topics as Firearms, Emergency Vehicle Operations, Police Tactics, Traffic Crash Investigations, C.S.I., Defensive Tactics, Criminal Justice, Traffic Enforcement, First Aid and CPR.

After successful completion of the academy, and licensing exam, a recruit becomes eligible to become licensed as a police officer through the Michigan Commission of Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES). MCOLES establishes the requirements for admission to all of the state’s regional academies.     Apply to LCC

    Complete the admissions application to become an official LCC student. Once you click "apply" on any LCC webpage, you will be asked to create an admissions login and to select an admission type. To complete the application, you will need to know you SSN, email address and address of residence.

    Complete Police Academy Application

    Please complete the College’s general application before applying to the Police Academy.

    *Only pre-service applicants are required to fill out the Academy Application.

    Please refer to the Police Academy Agency list before applying. Seats are reserved for those recruits employed through agencies. The week of July 22nd, pre-service applications will be reviewed and interviews conducted for the remaining open seats.

    The next academy will run from August 19, 2024 – December 13, 2024.

    We are no longer accepting applications for the fall 2024 academy.
