Theatre Faculty
Mary has taught in the in the theatre program at Lansing Community College since 1998,
teaching Acting Shakespeare in its Studio Program, as well as Play Directing, Theatre
History and Play Analysis. She also taught at Michigan State University in the Theatre
Department and in its Law School where she taught Advocacy as a Performing Art. She
has directed a wide variety of plays, including, INTIMATE APPAREL, BELLE MORAL, SERIOUS
MONEY, RAGTIME and PRIDE AND PREJUDICE at LCC, FUN HOME, INDECENT, and EURYDICE at
Peppermint Creek Theatre Company (PCTC), MEMOIR and TAKING SHAKESPEARE at Williamston
Theatre, SUMMER RETREAT, MOON OVER BUFFALO, DANCING AT LUGHNASA, IN THE NEXT ROOM
at Over the Ledge Theatre Co. (OTL).
Prior to embarking on a career exclusively in theatre, she spent over 20 years (1977-2000)
as a labor and employment rights lawyer representing teachers and other school employees.
She has a BA from the University of Vermont in American Ethnic Studies, a J.D. from
Northwestern University School of Law, and an M.A. in Theatre with a Directing and
Theatre History emphasis, from Michigan State University.
