Join the Office of Empowerment’s Maya Angelou Training Center for a week of activities and workshops to honor and celebrate legendary writer, activist and educator Maya Angelou. Events include:

Poetry Slam
5-7 p.m. March 31 in the Michigan Room
Dinner will be provided and an RSVP is required. This event is open to students, employees and family members.

Writers Workshop
10 a.m.-noon April 1 at West Campus, room 124A
10 a.m.-noon April 2 at Downtown Campus, TLC 1202
Explore the art of writing and how writing can make a social impact. Hosted in collaboration with LCC’s Writing Center.

Community Empowerment Day of Service
10 a.m.-2 p.m. April 4 at Cristo Rey Community Center, 1717 N. High St. in Lansing.
Help the community center prepare and serve lunch. An RSVP is required, and transportation is provided for those who need it.
