LANSING, Mich. – LCC student Jayci Simon and her mixed doubles partner Miles Krajewski won a silver medal in para-badminton at the Paris Paralympic Games. Simon and Krajewski made history by earning Team USA’s first-ever para-badminton medal.

The duo faced a seasoned team in the finals. Simon and Krajewski gave it their all but fell short of delivering the ultimate upset. They dropped the first set, 21-14, but got their footing in the second set and built a four-point lead. The Chinese team of Naili Lin and Fengmei Li leaned on their extensive experience to turn the tides in their favor to take the gold.

“Gold is what we train for. That’s our vision,” Simon said. “But very few make it to this stage and the gold medal match. So, even though that’s still in our mind, it’s been even more amazing than what we’ve dreamed of.”

Congratulations Jayci on shining like a Star on the para badminton global stage. We are so proud of you!
