Lansing Community College holding blood drive

Mid-Michigan Board of Directors and American Red Cross partner for lifesaving mission

By Marilyn Twine
LANSING, Mich. - LCC will host the Mid-Michigan Board of Directors and the Lansing American Red Cross for a community blood drive 10 a.m. – 3:45 p.m. Thursday, March 30 in the Gannon Building’s Michigan Room.

“Hosting a blood drive coincides with LCC’s core values of supporting the Greater Lansing community,” said Marilyn Twine, Director of Public Relations. With a simple blood donation, we have the ability to help save the life of someone who could be a student, coworker, loved one or neighbor.”

According to the Red Cross, blood is routinely transfused to patients with cancer and other diseases, premature babies, organ transplant recipients and trauma victims.

Donors of all blood types are needed, especially those with types O negative, B negative and A negative. According to the Red Cross, type O negative is the universal blood type that can be safely transfused to anyone and is often used to treat trauma patients.

“The short amount of time it takes to donate can mean a lifetime to a patient with a serious medical condition,” said Twine. “We urge eligible donors to join LCC and the Mid-Michigan Board of Directors in the selfless act of giving blood.”

Donors will receive a $10 Visa® Prepaid Card by email and will be automatically entered to win a $3,000 Visa® Prepaid Card! Visit rcblood.org/help for more information on the giveaways.

While appointments are strongly encouraged, walk-ins are welcome.
