Emly Horne Memorial Scholarship

Support Students in the Mid-Michigan Police Academy

Emly Horne was a neighborhood leader in south Lansing who recruited participants, provided input at Summit meetings, and kept neighborhoods and community groups informed of the project's progress and outcomes. Emly served as the first President of the Old Everett Neighborhood Association (OENA). Her many accomplishments include securing grants for initial projects, including street sign toppers to mark the OENA boundaries, and a historical marker for the Old Everett High School, which identify and nurture pride in our area of the City.

Emly has served on many City citizen advisory boards and commissions, including being a volunteer with the South Police Precinct & Neighborhood Network Center where she worked with Lansing school administrators and students to reduce traffic and truancy problems and to encourage greater neighborhood awareness and mutual support. Emly started a Neighborhood Watch organization in her own neighborhood, and served as liaison between many Neighborhood Watch organizations and the Lansing Police Department. She consistently turned out a large group of area residents to engage in bi-monthly problem-solving sessions with Police Officers.
