Support Students in the Arts at LCC

Arts connect people to themselves, to each other and to the world. At LCC, you’ll find a wealth of arts: for study, for enlightenment and for inspiration, for critical thinking, communication and connection. 

Support students in the arts at LCC by supporting the many scholarships that have been established to support future artists.

Byrne, Machtel, Sargeant Endowed Scholarship

Scholarship recipients must be majoring in a performing arts program at Lansing Community College and maintain a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA.

Cathy J. Siebert Stratford Festival Award

Scholarship recipients must have passed EGN 132 with a minimum grade of 2.0. Recipients will be awarded funds for travel expenses and theater tickets to attend the Stratford Festival in Stratford Ontario. Selections are made by a travel award committee. Following the trip, students are required to submit a portfolio.

Dance Scholarship

Scholarship recipients are selected by the Lansing Community College Performing Arts Department through auditions.

Elizabeth L. Anderson Scholarship

Scholarship recipients must be enrolled in an arts, dance, music, or theater program at Lansing Community College, reside within the LCC district, and be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits. Financial need will be considered.

Eric Zimmerman Visual Art Fund

In honor of Eric Hardy Zimmerman, the Eric Zimmerman Visual Arts Fund enables the purchase of student artwork to be displayed in public and commons areas on the campus of Lansing Community College. Eric Zimmerman graduated from East Lansing High School in 1967 and received his BFA and MFA from the University of Michigan.

This is a purchase award with up to four $400 awards available. Purchased art will be displayed on LCC's campus.

Heather Powers Theatre Scholarship

The purpose of this scholarship is to provide assistance to Lansing Community College students in the Theater program. Scholarship recipients participating in the Stratford Experience or British Theater tour will be given preference.

James P. Platte Memorial Scholarship

Established in 1995 by the friends and family of James P. Platte, the James P. Platte Memorial Scholarship supports students pursuing a degree in English, the Performing Arts, and Communications at Lansing Community College. 

Scholarship recipients must be enrolled in a performing arts, English, or communications program at Lansing Community College, have completed 24 completed credits, be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits, and maintain a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA.

Mark Gallup Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship recipients must be enrolled a communication, media, or arts program at Lansing Community College, be enrolled in a minimum of 9 credits, and maintain a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA.

Music Scholarship

Scholarship recipients are selected by the Lansing Community College Performing Arts Department through audition.

Rudy Valdez Scholarship

Rudy Valdez grew up in Lansing and attended Lansing Eastern and LCC, where exposure to Theatre and performance nourished his aspirations to create meaningful stories, which would later find a voice in his documentary films.  Rudy performed at LCC in many plays, delighting audiences with his acting talents, and presented his one-man show "Coconut" about his family in the Old Central Theatre.

Scholarship recipients will have expressed a sincere desire to explore Theatre, maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA and be enrolled in at least one Theatre class at LCC. Scholarships will be for a maximum of 4 in-district billable hours.

Theater Scholarship

Scholarship recipients are selected by the Lansing Community College Performing Arts Department through auditions.
