Accruing college credits in high school enhances students’ academic ability and knowledge base and reduces the overall cost of college. Dual enrollment allows students to take college courses at LCC, away from their home high schools, and the credits they earn are counted at LCC and are highly transferable to other colleges and universities.
Coalition for College and Career Readiness (C3R)
The goal of the Coalition for College and Career Readiness is to ascertain the gap between high school and first-year college and career readiness skills, increase academic success for students PK -post-secondary; improve college readiness and reduce the number of high school students in the tri-county area requiring developmental coursework. It also seeks to increase the college-going rate.
Local Partnerships
To this end Lansing Community College partners with Clinton County Regional Education Service Agency, Eaton Intermediate School District, Ingham Intermediate School District and the Lansing School District to prepare high school juniors and seniors prepare for the world of postsecondary education and the world of work. Students earn high school Career and Technical Education credits, and at the same time, have the opportunity to earn college credits at LCC.
High School Advantage
Today's students and their parents want options, including the ability to earn transferable college credit before high school graduation. Lansing Community College developed the High School Advantage program to help high schools respond to this need.
CTE Credit-By-Exam
CTE Credit-By-Exam agreements are formal written documents agreed upon by two or more institutions. They provide a value added component for high school students who want to get a jump start on their college education.
High School Dual Enrollment
Dual Enrollment provides an opportunity for qualified high school students to earn college credit while working towards their high school diploma.
HOPE and Promise Scholarships
The HOPE and Promise Scholarship Programs offer Lansing and Mason youth an opportunity for a college education and a brighter future.
