Lansing Community College

College Connect program is aimed at helping recent graduates who may have experienced interruptions to in-person learning due to COVID, which resulted in a learning loss. 

This program supports learners’ college transitions with weekly sessions focused on college and career readiness.  Students will attend in-person sessions Tuesdays – Friday where they will engage in both hands-on application as well as online learning.  Students can choose to enroll in either a morning or evening session.

English

The English sessions include a review of essential reading and writing skills to prepare students for their first college English course.

math

The math sessions are focused on skills such as test taking strategies, how to study math, and essential math and problem-solving skills that will help you be successful in math.

College Success Skills

Students will also participate in sessions to support their college and career success. This includes learning about
college admissions, financial aid, college resources, and career exploration.

Orientation is Mandatory. Visit the Orientation webpage to schedule your session prior to July 9, 2024 to ensure you are ready for the program.

Classes begin Tuesday July 9, 2024 all classes are held in the TLC building - Learning Commons Classrooms.

Parking is available on the 2nd floor of the Gannon ramp.

Your weekly cohort schedule will be distributed July 9, 2024 along with your StarCard if you haven’t picked them up prior – you must have a photo ID to collect it.   Remember to apply for your StarCard ASAP to ensure you have access to the campus beyond Tuesday.

Morning Session
  • 8:30 – 9 a.m. (mealtime)
  • 9:10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
    • Cohort A: 9:10  – 10:30 a.m.
    • Cohort B: 10:40 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Evening Session
  • 5 – 5:30 p.m. (mealtime)
  • 5:40 – 8:30 p.m.
    • Cohort C: 5:40 – 7 p.m.
    • Cohort D: 7:10 – 8:30 p.m.

Resources

We recognize students may need additional resources to be successful in this program.  Students will have access to the following resources when they participate in the program:

  • Upon completion, students will receive a $600 stipend.
  • LCC laptop and free Wi-Fi while on campus.
  • Light meals and snacks.

Please bring your laptops daily as you will them at some point in every session.

Eligible Students

  • Students who recently graduated from high school between 2020-24 and have not completed college-level Math or English courses.
  • Individuals who recently completed high school equivalency and GED programs (without completing college-level Math or English courses).
  • Michigan ReConnect Students who were new to LCC in 2024 and had not completed college-level 

Student Outcomes

Upon completion of the College Connect program, students will:

  • Be eligible to enroll in college-level English and Mathematics with or without co-support courses
  • Experienced a college environment
  • Broaden knowledge of academic skills, college resources, and career readiness

Registration

To participate in the free College Connect Program, the following steps must be completed:

  1. Complete and submit the College Connect Pre-Registration form:

  2. Fill out our admissions application to become an official LCC student! Remember to select Summer 2024 as your admission term.

    NOTE: Students with disabilities who may need accommodations in this workshop should contact the Center for Student Access (CSA). If you had an IEP or 504 plan in high school, CSA can take a copy to review to set up accommodations. You can access the Center for Student Access website, or call (517) 483-5323. Contacting CSA early helps ensure that accommodations are put in place as soon as possible.
