Selfie Spots

Congratulations on graduating! We invite you to take a photo journey through LCC's downtown campus and use our collection of art and sculptures as backdrops. All of the sculptures on campus, from the 30 foot tall Red Ribbon in the Sky to our towering Elementary display, were designed, fabricated or engineered in diverse ways by LCC faculty, alumni or students. We encourage you to wear your regalia or uniform (police academy, fire academy) and use the art and sculptures around campus as an iconic LCC backdrop. Want to borrow some props? Starting April 15, grab a selfie stick and some props from the StarZone for a memorable photo!

The College Mace and Presidential Medallion

Today's Commencement Ceremony is a momentous occasion, marked by two esteemed symbols: The College Mace and the Presidential Medallion. The Mace, a symbol of academic excellence, is carried by our distinguished faculty and signifies the values and mission of our institution. The finial on its top is shaped like the State Capitol Building, a nod to our location in the heart of Michigan, and the wood of the staff comes from Lansing High School, later known as Old Central, which was LCC’s first building when founded. The Presidential Medallion, worn by our leader, embodies the commitment and dedication of LCC to shaping futures and changing lives through education. Together, these cherished emblems represent our enduring legacy and commitment to excellence in higher education.
