“The Washington Square Review” (WSR) Star Edition is hosting a free event in which
published student authors, poets and essayists come together to share their work with
an audience.
The event will be Friday, April 26 from 7:15 to 9:45 in Dart Auditorium on LCC’s main
campus.
“The Washington Square Review features the best poetry, fiction, non-fiction, art and photography from the LCC community,” said LCC Academic and Arts Outreach Coordinator Melissa Kaplan. “Founded and edited by LCC Writing Professor Donia Nolden in 1972, it was later edited for over 10 years by Professor Dennis Hinrichsen and his creative writing classes.”
According to the WSR site, its mission is to create a space of unification for the creative minds of diverse individuals and by creating solidarity through purpose.
“With the recent relaunch we created two editions,” stated Melissa Ford Lucken, editor for the Washington Square Review. “One … has creative work from writers around the world, and the Star Edition, which features only writing from LCC students and LCC community members.”
Student submissions for WSR are open until May 10. Those submissions should be sent to WSR@star.lcc.edu. For more about The Washington Square Review visit the WSR blog here.
