Tech Forward: Women in Trades, Technologies and Public Service Careers is hosting a seminar for students, current and future, who are showing interest in the energy and utilities industry.
The seminar will be held at LCC's west campus from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 18.
“By holding an event like our “Women in Energy Careers,” the attendees will learn about job opportunities they never even knew existed,” said Becky Sutton, success coach in the LCC Technical Careers Division.
Students can attend and explore all avenues of their eventual careers and learn about new opportunities in the future.
“They will connect with and hear from women who are currently working in the industry, will learn what steps to take in order to follow the different career paths and will have the opportunity to actually meet representatives from energy companies,” Sutton said.
The seminar will educate those who attend about new careers in energy. Attendees can ask questions and network amongst other women in the field of utilities and energy.
“The main goal is for current high school students, LCC students who are undecided about their major, and for community members who are looking to go back to school or change careers, to gather all the information they need in order to pursue a career in energy,” Sutton said.
For students studying utilities and energy systems who are unsure of which route to take after graduation, the seminar will shed light on new and existing avenues for employment. Those who want a career change and are thinking of attending LCC for a career in technology, are also welcome to attend.
According to the LCC Events Calendar, there will be a free brunch. For more information or to register, click here.
