The fall semester will officially begin on Thursday, Aug. 17. To help bring some cheer to the start of classes, LCC has put together what is known as “Welcome Week.”
Welcome Week is a collection of different events, split between LCC’s downtown and west campuses, which are sure to ease a bit of the stress of going back to school.
LCC Conference Service Manager Kelly Hekler said the events will officially begin on Thursday, Aug. 17 and will run through Friday of the following week, Aug. 25.
“’Party with the Prez’ (Thursday, Aug. 24 from 11:30 to 1 p.m.) will have lots of free food, fun and games,” Hekler said. “The therapy dogs and Kona Ice are always a big hit. Blue Owl Coffee and Espresso Bar will be downtown a few days serving up delicious drinks.”
There will be all sorts of different events specially dedicated to giving away everything from free snacks to free school supplies to all students in need.
One event that should be attended by all is known as “Donuts with the Dean.” This is an event where free donuts can be shared with Dean of Student Affairs Ronda Miller. That event will be Wednesday, Aug. 23 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in the Gannon Building near the StarZone.
There is a day that can bring a little something to every student and help make the new semester a big success. For a calendar of all Welcome Week events, click here.
