2025 is here and another semester is upon us, Stars!

Festivities began Wednesday, Jan. 8, with the New Student Kick-Off, but there will be more chances to celebrate and start the new semester off throughout the week of Jan. 13 through 18.

On west campus, healthy snacks like granola bars and fruit, as well as school supplies, will be available from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 8 a.m. to noon on Friday, in the lobby area. On Tuesday and Thursday there will also be fresh popcorn offered in the lobby from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

All week there will also be mini-bowling and cornhole for those looking to relax after their first classes.

Monday, the Kona Ice truck will be parked on west campus to help warm students up on their first day back from 4 to 6 p.m. with free hot cocoa. Tuesday the truck will be parked on the downtown campus mall from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Meanwhile on downtown campus there will also be daily giveaways as well as a few helpful events throughout the week.

Free school supplies, snacks and fresh popcorn will be available Monday through Thursday from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the south end of the StarZone. The Gannon Building will also host therapy dogs in the Gannon Highway.

Swag like lanyards, small sketchbooks and pronoun pins will be offered all week in TLC: from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Mil Connect students returning this spring will have the opportunity to attend a Student Appreciation Brunch in the President's Dining Room either Monday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. or Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Pressing questions heading into the semester? The success coaches have you covered!

Monday and Tuesday from 10 a.m. to noon students can fuel up at the Success Coach Lounge, get connected with their specific coach and ask general questions as they settle into their new schedules, according to Kelly Chambers, lead support for the LCC Academic Success Coaches.

Many students are looking toward their futures after LCC in the spring; both Student Life and Career and Employment Services employees realize how crucial this time is and want to help student make the most of it.

Tuesday from 1 to 3 p.m., students can visit the Non-Profit and Government Agency Fair in the Gannon Highway to explore anything from volunteer to job opportunities. Then on Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., students can visit the Career Center in GB 2219 to explore possible career paths using The Holland Codes.

“Using the Holland Codes (RIASEC), Career and Employment Services can help you identify your unique personality type and match it with a range of career possibilities,” according to the event page. “Whether you're undecided, exploring new opportunities, or looking to refine your career goals, this event is your chance to gain valuable insights into the world of work.”
