Volleyballers stay perfect in conference

The Stars volleyball team continues to roll in MCCAA Western Conference play following a dominant 3-0 victory on the road against Southwest Michigan College on Thursday, Oct. 10. LCC won each set by scores of 25-18, 25-22 and 25-18.
This win improved LCC’s MCCAA Western Conference record to 8-0 and its overall record to 19-5 on the season.
“Our team is starting to mesh as far as understanding and comprehending where each other (is) on the court,” LCC Head Coach Emily Quintero said.
“We are moving in unison, which is allowing us to minimize on errors.”
Top performers in the match for the Stars included freshman Jasmine Reemsnyder with 13 kills and sophomore Karsyn Near with 43 assists. Freshman Christina Williams had one block for LCC. Near and freshman Caroline Hengesbach each had 13 digs to lead the defense.
“(Our chemistry) has grown immensely from the beginning of the season and I am thankful for it because that ties into the success on the court,” LCC sophomore Anna Hoch said.
Approaching the final portion of the regular season, the Stars are scheduled to play at home against Glen Oaks Community College on Thursday, Oct. 17.
LCC will travel to Marian University Ancilla on Tuesday, Oct. 22 to take on the Chargers.
