The LCC Stars volleyball team defeated Lake Michigan College at LCC’s temporary home court, the Don Johnson Fieldhouse in Lansing, on Thursday, Oct. 13.
The Stars won the first game 25-22, lost the second 25-10, then won the last two games 25-19 and 25-20.
“I think it went really well,” LCC Head Coach Emily Quintero said. “I was glad that we took it four. We definitely needed this victory and we definitely needed to beat them this year.”
This win put that Stars’ record at 10-15 overall and at 5-3 in the MCCAA Western Conference.
LCC sophomore Katelyn Whiteman commented on the win.
“I think it went well, especially since we lost against them last time we played them,” Whiteman said. “I think it was a big win to have at home.”
Quintero commented on her team’s current status.
“I feel like we’re where we are supposed to be right now; we’re continuing to grow and learn and we’re not getting stagnant,” Quintero said. “So, we’ve got to continue to push the bar so we continue to grow and finish strong for our season.”
The Stars are scheduled to play on Tuesday, Oct. 18 at Kellogg Community College in Battle Creek.
“As long as we keep gaining momentum and growing to our full potential, I think we’re going to go into districts looking really good,” Whiteman said.
