LCC volleyball concluded its non-conference schedule on Monday, Sept. 9 at Mott Community College, where the Stars were defeated by the host Bears, 3-0. This loss snapped the Stars six-game winning streak.

“They struggled to perform, and it wasn’t (just) one or two (players),” LCC Head Coach Emily Quintero said. “Everybody was in the same boat and when that happens, that’s the result we get.

“It was unfortunate but moving forward we are going to be tightening the reins on serve receive, minimize hitting errors and making our serves in the court.”

For many players this loss can be used as a learning experience to make them better going forward, the coach said.

“The biggest thing is to learn from the game; we came into it super slow (and) didn’t play like us,” LCC freshman Jasmine Reemsnyder said.

Despite the defeat, there were still some impressive performances by LCC players. including sophomores Anna Hoch and Karsyn Near.

Hoch racked up 10 kills, three spikes and four digs while Near ended up with 15 assists, nine digs and four sets.

The Stars will look to improve on this performance as they begin MCCAA West Division play on Thursday, Sept. 12 at Kalamazoo Valley Community College.
