Toys For Tots drive underway at LCC

LCC’s Office of Veteran Affairs has coordinated a Toys for Tots donation drive.
Toys for Tots is a program run by the United States Marine Corps, which distributes toys to children in the U.S for parents who struggle to afford them.
Andrew Cosgrove, the director of veteran services at LCC, is in charge of the Toys for Tots drive.
“It’s a good feeling,” Cosgrove said. “You think about all these kids, and their families may not have the resources to provide a lot of gifts to their kids for Christmas.”
The donation boxes were placed last week. This is the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic that LCC has collected for Toys for Tots.
There are four boxes on the downtown campus. There is one in the Gannon Building by the main entrance, one in the TLC building near the Learning Commons, one in the Health and Human Services building and one in the Administration Building.
There is also a collection box at LCC’s west campus, in front of the Student Services desk.
There are poster boards next to every donation box that show the different locations, as well as a QR code for people who want to donate online.
“We’ve always done pretty well in the past … one year we had over 200 toys donated,” Cosgrove said. “It’s a nice feeling that LCC can be a part of it and come together, whether it’s students, staff or faculty.”
