LCC’s Student Advisory Committee (SAC) is looking for students to join.

According to the LCC website, the purpose of the Academic Senate’s standing committee, the Student Advisory Committee (SAC), is to enhance student learning and the student experience at LCC. This is done by providing student input and advice to the Academic Senate concerning college-wide issues in order to guide the work of the Academic Senate.

“SAC empowers students and assists them in having successful outcomes at LCC and beyond,” SAC Chair Veronica Wilkerson-Johnson said.

Wilkerson-Johnson said that ideally, 50 percent of the SA members should be students.

“Half of the membership of SAC should ideally be students in order to provide the student voice and perspective needed to improve student success and outcomes at LCC,” Wilkerson-Johnson said.

According to Wilkerson-Johnson the SAC is looking for students who are interested in student success, enjoyment in college experience and in becoming a student leader.

Student members have certain responsibilities in the SAC.

“Student members attend SAC meetings, provide student insights in helping the committee better campus initiatives for students, and become immersed in the work of the committee,” Wilkerson-Johnson said.

According to Wilkerson-Johnson the SAC meets once a month, on Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  The current schedule for SAC meetings are: Sept. 22, Oct. 20, Nov. 17 and Dec. 15 (tentative, if needed).

There is no membership fee. To learn more about how to join the SAC, contact Wilkerson-Johnson at wilkev@lcc.edu.
