The LCC Robotics Club designs, creates, programs and drives 3D model robots with the goal of competing in VEX Robotics competitions.

Julia Stouffer, the club’s president, assured that there is no experience necessary to participate as a member of the club.

“We’re happy to get any new members,” Stouffer said. “As president, I try my best to teach the skills members will need to grow in the club.

“Our biggest events this semester will be the competitions we have lined up for Dec. 3 and Jan. 28.”

LCC student Tarif Thomas, a club member, expressed his enjoyment of the club.

“Just being able to brainstorm and bounce ideas off each other on how we will build and test the robot alone is my favorite part,” Thomas said. “Competing against other great minds and showcasing our talents to the world is what I enjoy also.

“Of course winning is the icing on the cake,” he added with a wink.

Thomas said he enjoys the teamwork and determination the club members show. He recommended the club to anyone who has an interest in robotics, and assured that the club is very welcoming to new members.

The Robotics Club’s weekly meetings are Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Lansing Community College west campus in room W164.
