Review: Cottage Inn is more than pizza

I tried Cottage Inn Pizza for the first time this week and found myself disappointed that I hadn’t tried it sooner.

I’m not a fan of pizza, so I never cared to give Cottage Inn Pizza a try. But it turns out the chain has more than that to offer. Customers can get anything from pizza and subs to wings, salad and more! 

I visited the Cottage Inn Pizza shop at 206 S. Washington Square in downtown Lansing for takeout. After reviewing the menu, I decided on the Italian cheese bread with extra pepperoni and an eight-piece chicken-wing pack with spicy garlic and buffalo sauce.

The thing I don’t like about pizza is the pizza sauce, so the cheese bread was a perfect alternative. It tasted amazing. 

It came with a side of marinara, ranch and garlic butter. I didn’t use the marinara, of course, but the garlic butter and ranch enhanced the taste of the Italian cheese bread. 

I ordered my wings plain with the sauce on the side, since I never tried the sauces before. I went with spicy garlic and buffalo as my two choices.

I just want to highlight the size of the container they put the sauces in! Usually at restaurants they give out a small container of sauces, but Cottage Inn understands the assignment when it comes to the portion of sauces. I love to drench my wings in sauce, so I was pleased to see that. 

The wings were juicy and the spicy garlic sauce exceeded my expectations. At most places, spicy garlic sauce is usually too salty and tangy, but Cottage Inn’s has the perfect combination of spice and garlic. 

The buffalo sauce was good too, but the spicy garlic was definitely the winner. 

Overall, I’d give Cottage Inn Pizza a score of 4.5 out of 5 stars.
