LCC’s Prism Alliance is hosting a Prism Networking Event for faculty and staff Wednesday, April 12 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in the Adult Resource Center in the Gannon Building.

According to the Prism website, “The Lansing Community College Prism Alliance educates, supports and empowers college employees to establish and maintain a safe and inclusive environment in which individuals of all sexual orientations and gender identities may lead their lives openly and authentically.”

The Prism Alliance was created by LCC employees, for LCC employees. Sarah Garcia-Linz, a member of the Prism Steering Committee and the Academic Success Coach Director for LCC, said Prism focuses on supporting and building community.

“Prism has done some different events in the past for the college, including educational events and Pride events,” Garcia-Linz said. “Currently the group is simply focused on offering opportunities for employees to connect, to talk, and to build community. Many people have felt disconnected in the past several years, although the group did hold some virtual events.

“The event on April 12 is a re-energizer; we hope to get some new members and help employees from around the college connect in a safe and supportive environment.”

The first 50 people to attend will receive giveaways. There will be appetizers and drinks provided during the presentation to reintroduce Prism and everything it is about.

For those interested, the event will then move off-campus to Spare Time Entertainment Center. Employees are welcome to bring a guest to the off-campus event, but are responsible for their own food and beverages.

For more information or to RSVP for the event, visit the Prism website here.
