Good things are popping up at Cravings Gourmet Popcorn, located at 1221 Turner St. in Lansing’s Old Town district.

Chad Jordan, owner of Cravings, spoke about the delicious and unique world of specialty popcorn sales. Cravings is well known for having its own unique flavors, including its newest, Mexican Vanilla Caramel.

The store has over 30 different, scrumptious types of popcorn, each one made nut and gluten free. Among the varieties are Mackinac Island Caramel, Hot Jacked Cheddar Cheese and Fruity Rainbow Remix. Bags of popcorn range in price from $6.95 to $10.95.

“I’ve always tried to put an emphasis on being different and special,” Jordan said. “It’s easy to be different. I don’t know if it’s easy to be special, but it’s harder to be different and special.”

However, not just the popcorn is special at Cravings. The shop itself is a sight to see.

The moment customers step into the building they are hit with the wonderful scent of many indulgent popcorns being made fresh behind the counter.

Racks are filled with freshly bagged popcorn, unique types of sweets, and an array of chocolates, not to mention old-fashioned bottled sodas.

Stepping inside is similar to wandering into the world of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory; it has the same feel as Wonka’s shops, sure to make the child in anyone excited.

So the next time that you find yourself walking down the street in Old Town and you are hit with a unique popcorn smell, take a moment to meander your way into Cravings.
