LCC Performing Arts will host performances of “The Good Doctor” on Friday and Saturday, May 3 and 4, at 7 p.m. both days. Tickets will be free for both performances, which will take place in the Gannon Building’s Black Box Theatre.
The performances will showcase students who are currently enrolled in the beginning studio theatre classes offered at LCC. They play also focuses on actors playing multiple characters.
“The Good Doctor” is a comedic series of short plays written by Neil Simon, who adapted them from writer Anton Chekhov, and has been a hit on Broadway. The play will be directed by LCC’s Andy Callis.
Callis shared that he enjoys the comedy of the play.
“I like the characters, and how the comic situations escalate,” Callis said. “The play is a collection of Anton Chekhov's short stories - they are very funny, and some are poignant. Neil Simon adapted the short stories for the stage, and his comic touch is brilliant.
“I hope it lightens (audience members’) mood and brings a smile to their face.”
