Students looking for a more fun, alternative way to receive academic advising and program information, look no more.
The “Pizza with Professors” event offers services to students who may be undecided on a major.
Students may grab a free slice of pizza while discussing various programs with advisers and other LCC faculty members. Students looking for advice on updating their major, careers, or on the Michigan Transfer Agreement will also find help from LCC faculty.
The event is being organized by Director of Academic Advising Chelsea Brandon. It will run in two sessions on Tuesday, Nov. 15 in the Gannon Building first floor commons area. One session will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the other from 5 to 7 p.m.
“The goal of ‘Pizza with Professors’ is to provide an opportunity for students to casually meet with various faculty from different academic areas, as well as academic advisers, over a slice of pizza,” Brandon said.
“I definitely want to place an emphasis on the ‘casual’ setting, because I think it creates a welcoming and open space to have a few exploratory conversations without having to make an appointment or go to office hours.”
LCC student Alec Stout said he believes this event will be good for students looking for help, who may be confused where to get it.
“I think this event will be beneficial toward all students looking to transfer,” Stout said. “Usually I’d ask my high school advisers about what to do in regards to transferring, because I don’t know who to ask at LCC.
“I feel that others are also in the same state of confusion that I’m at, so this event is a great way to establish clarity.”
Soon, students will be able to RSVP for “Pizza with Professors” via the LCC Event Calendar.
