'Party With Prez' is Thursday, Aug. 24

To celebrate another fall semester beginning, an annual event known as “Party with the Prez” is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 24 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the LCC downtown campus.

Layne Ingram, chief of staff of the LCC President’s Office is assisting in the party planning fun.

“This is the seventh year and it is presented and made possible by CASE Credit Union,” Ingram said. “The list of activities and giveaway times is on the ‘Party with the Prez’ website; but there is free food, games, giveaways, and a free T-shirt for the first 100 students.”

Only students are allowed to attend. Each will receive a wristband upon entry to identify themselves and take part in all the activities offered.

Each student will also receive a raffle ticket for their chance to win something. Prizes range from gift cards to electronics and are guaranteed to brighten anyone’s day.

This is a promised day of fun, complete with a dunk tank, a bit of basketball, giant checkers and more. It’s a college-kid arcade and a chance to get to know the Dr. Steve Robinson, president of LCC.

Larry Hook, adviser of The Lookout, said he remembers all the “prez parties” from the past as really cool events.

“What is more fun than dunking our president in the dunk tank?” Hook asked. “And there is music, free food, crazy games and a chance to see LCC’s main campus at its finest.”

Robinson said he is thrilled to have an opportunity to meet new faces and create a sense of community to usher in a new school year.   

“I could not be more excited to hang out with our students and launch another great academic year,” Robinson said.

“I look forward to Party with the Prez every year, and this year is no different. We are going to have an amazing time kicking off the fall 2023 semester."
