Nearing the end of March 2023, the movie “Dungeons & Dragons: Honor among Thieves” hit the theaters. I can’t speak for others, but personally, I was excited to see what filmmakers were going to do with this.

A hilarious fantasy movie based on the well-known role-playing game, Dungeons & Dragons, this movie takes viewers on a wild adventure with Edgin (Chris Pine), an unruly thief who gathers together an unlikely band of characters to overcome corruption and evil.

As a person who has actually played Dungeons & Dragons, I knew the directors could take this movie in multiple different directions. Not only is there a stereotype around people who play games like D&D and Magic: The Gathering, but the stereotype can be accurate at times. Just like in the movie, you get a group of varying characters together, and chaos ensues.

From the outside, the nerdy kids may seem weird and quiet, but when we gather together to play D&D, all hell can break loose, literally!

The game is based mostly upon imagination, fictional characters, events and objects. It’s all up to the players, and the movie did a wonderful job of conveying how frustrating, silly and entertaining a D&D campaign can really be.

From plans gone awry to a chubby dragon, this movie did more than live up to my high expectations.

“Dungeons & Dragons: Honor among Thieves” can be streamed on Amazon Prime Video or Paramount +. This is a great movie for a laugh, perfect for fulfilling the adventure/fantasy fix, and is a great example of unlikely friendships through hard times.

So, if you haven’t seen it, get going, and enjoy this hilarious adventure of a movie!
