The LCC men's basketball team squared off with a conference foe on Wednesday, Jan 25 and suffered a lopsided loss to Lake Michigan College, 91-74.
The game was a tale of two halves, with LCC down by just three, 39-36 at halftime. The Stars were outscored 52-38 in the second half.
Head coach Mike Ingram did not hold back on his players, citing a lack of passion.
“We’re just playing terrible right now, on both ends of the court,” Ingram said. “(We’re) not playing with any excitement, or any passion, you know. Energy is hurting us everywhere, from the bench to the guys playing.”
Ingram spoke about his team of late when asked if effort is an issue.
“I haven’t been able to put my hand on it right now,” Ingram said. “But it looks like they’re not getting coached, and they’re definitely not responding to coaching … We just have to keep working at that, trying to get better with it.”
Guard/forward Cole Krause and guard/forward Connor Bush both collected 20 points for the Stars, while guard Freddy Johnson added 10 points.
The contest was the Stars’ fourth conference game, dropping LCC to 8-10 overall and to 0-4 in conference play. The loss came after a 99-79 loss at Ancilla College on Jan 21.
The Stars will look to gain their first conference win at Southwestern Michigan on Saturday, Jan 28.
