The Health and Human Services Department at LCC offers a trade program in massage therapy (MT).

“All of the students in the program appreciate the rapid-entry format of just 12 months in total,” said Jodi Wiley, assistant professor and lead faculty of the MT program.

The MT program also offers a flexible schedule, with daytime, night, online, hybrid and in-person classes available for registration.

Additionally, new MT classes start about every six months, in January and August. Prospective students may visit LCC’s site for more information on enrollment.

“We have all ages and stages of students, from recent high school grads to back-to-school moms, all the way to recent retirees looking to learn a new skill,” Wiley said.

Whether it is someone looking for a career change, a complementing license with another profession, or a passion for working with the public, the LCC MT program could be the next step in an individual’s career development.

“Some are interested in healthcare fields that complement traditional medicine professions, while others want to pair a massage career with another similar profession such as a yoga teacher or fitness instructor,” Wiley said.

According to LCC’s program description, massage therapy is a growing industry, and LCC’s MT program has so far placed more than 250 graduates in the Lansing region.

Those looking to relax and see what the MT program is about can help current LCC MT students earn their clinical hours. They can stop in on Thursdays all this semester for a free 10 to 20 minute clothed massage.

Free massages will be held in the Gannon Building near the Success Coach offices, room 2202, and will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. To book an appointment, click here.
