The Lansing Lugnuts, the city’s Minor League baseball team, offer a discount to any
college student who can provide a student ID.
College students willing to show a student ID can get into a game for only $5, according to Lugnuts Director of Ticket Sales Nick Bertoia.
“Realistically we’re aiming for Michigan State or LCC, but yes our student ticket price applies to all college students that can show a student ID,” Bertoia said.
The discount lasts for the whole season, which runs from April until early September, so there is plenty of time for students to take advantage of the discount.
“(We are) making it more affordable for students to come out to the ballpark and see us,” Bertoia said. “They always add that fun element to our game atmosphere.”
The Lugnuts have Thirsty Thursday games, during which draft beers sell for $2. Bertoia said that could be a big draw for college students.
The college student discount has been going on for years. With the Lugnuts now under a new owner, it’s nice to know some things don’t change. Diamond Baseball Holdings is the Lugnuts’ new owner.
“They are major players in Minor League Baseball,” Bertoia said. “I think they own over 20 minor league ballparks. The Lugnuts are here to stay.”
The Lugnuts play at Jackson Field, located at 505 E. Michigan Ave., just a few blocks from the downtown LCC campus. Students can look into getting tickets and check the team’s schedule on the Lugnuts’ website here.
