Students and individuals within the community are welcome to attend the Lansing Lugnuts’ Job Fair on Saturday Feb. 24, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The fair will be an open-house style career fair, with on-the-spot interviews and many positions to apply for. The Lugnuts, a Minor League professional baseball team, offer great hourly positions in customer service, retail, operations, grounds and food service.

“The (baseball) season runs from April until September,” said Matt Hicks, director of retail for the Lugnuts. “There are full- and part-time positions available, and we need a great staff with a happy attitude. This is a great option for those who work other jobs, but need some extra hours.

“We employ students – high school and college, retirees, veterans and those who have limited mobility or disabilities. There are outside and indoor positions to apply to and we also provide accommodations, such as breaks when needed, or a chair or stool for those who are more comfortable off their feet.”

According to the Lugnuts’ site, the only requirements for those seeking summer employment are to be at least 16 years of age, to provide a valid ID, and to prove eligibility to work in the U.S.

“This (job fair) gives the community a chance to become excited and involved for the upcoming season,” said Amanda Rich, marketing and fan engagement manager.
