This weekend and throughout the week there will be tons of fun family-friendly events in the Greater Lansing area. From concerts to arts in the streets, there will be a wide variety of events for local residents to enjoy and discover.

Capital City Comic Con is coming to the Lansing Center, 333 E. Michigan Ave., from Friday, July 8 to Sunday, July 10. Special guests include voice actor Melanie Kohn (who voiced Lucy in Charlie Brown) and even Charlie Brown himself, Duncan Watson.

Other guests include anime voice artists Ted Lewis and Megan Hollingshead, and comic book celebrities Dan Dougherty and Seth Damoose. There will be contests, food, photo ops, special guest signings and more.

For more information and ticket prices, visit the Capital City Comic Con website.

Arts Night Out and Scrapfest will be conjoined events, with both celebrating local artists. Arts Night Out is an event hosted by the Arts Council of Greater Lansing on the first Friday of every other month.

This event is always held in Old Town along Cesar E. Chavez Avenue and Turner Street. This month’s event will run two days, Friday, July 8 from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, July 9 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

“This Arts Night Out is happening in conjunction with the Scrapfest, so it will be an extra special event,” said Dawn Gorman, communications manager for the Arts Council of Greater Lansing. “The streets will be closed down and lined with scrap artists and metal sculptures. There will be music, all kinds of other entertainment, and lots of art.

“I would say if you’ve never been to an ‘Arts Night Out’ this would be an excellent one to come to, because you get to experience Scrapfest as well.”

For more information, visit the Arts Night Out website or the Scrapfest website.

Concerts in the Park is an LCC-sponsored City of Lansing event that features free concerts at different Lansing parks. Many of the performers are local bands, including the Sea Cruisers, Ritmo and Global Village. Each concert is held on Wednesdays from 7 to 9 p.m.

The next concert is Wednesday, July 13 at the Turner-Dodge House in Old Town, with the Sea Cruisers providing the music.
