The LCC Library and Learning Center, located in the Abel Sykes Technology and Learning Center, offers a multitude of resources to students.
Located on the downtown campus at 400 N. Capitol Ave., the library is open seven days a week. Hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and noon to 4 p.m. Friday through Sunday.
There are four floors in the TLC building. Portions of the library are located on each of the first three floors. Students can access face-to-face tutoring in the library, or utilize individual study rooms on the second and third floors.
“Tutoring is in the same space as the library but is part of the Learning Commons, which is a separate department,” Library Communications Specialist Abby Tebeau said. “This means students can access all the resources from both departments in one convenient space.”
The study rooms are each equipped with a table and chairs, a whiteboard and a TV. In order to use a study room, all student have to do is show their StarCard.
“The library offers 16 study rooms for current students and alumni to use on a first-come, first-serve basis,” Tebeau said. “The study rooms are checked out in two-hour blocks, which can be extended based on availability.”
Students can also book a room 24 hours in advance by clicking here.
The library is also where students can rent laptop computers, as well as use state-of-the-art computers found throughout the building.
“The library’s main goal is to support the LCC community’s academic and personal success,” Tebeau said. “Lansing Community College Library empowers the LCC community to learn, teach and discover.”
LCC freshman Trey Sylla is one of the many students who utilizes the library on a regular basis.
"I go there so I can work on my assignments,” Sylla said. “I would say the library offers good resources.”
