Julie's Jukes: Early semester blues
The start of this spring semester has been somewhat disappointing for me. I was optimistic about how this semester was going to go and had plans that are now postponed.
I was able to get an internship at a hospital, where I will be able to shadow professional medical interpreters. I am really excited about this opportunity, since medical interpreting is my future career goal.
On the first day of the semester, I had a pretty good day. I went to work and class without any problems. The next day I got sick and spent the rest of the week trying to recover.
During the week I found out that a couple of my family members tested positive for COVID. I set up an appointment to get tested and spent the weekend quarantined.
Monday came around; I got tested and sadly received a positive result. Even though I was past most of my sickness, I still tested positive.
Now, I am unable to go to my classes this week or go to the internship until I receive a negative test result.
I plan on getting tested at the end of the week and am hopeful to get a negative result.
On the plus side, I have been able to catch up on some chores and get back into doing some of my hobbies, such as reading, knitting and paint by numbers.
I can be thankful for the fact that my symptoms were not severe, and I was able to recover quickly.
Hopefully the rest of my plans for the semester will go better.
