The Detroit Tigers had an impressive start to begin the 2024 MLB season with a 17-13 record through March and April. To wrap up the spring and going into the summer months, however, the Tigers season went downhill fast.

A record of just 35-44 through the months of May, June, and July seemed to dispel any hope of Detroit ending its decade long postseason drought.

Going into the final two months of the MLB season, the Tigers were sitting in fourth place in the AL Central and more than 10 games back of a playoff spot.

All of a sudden, a fire was lit throughout this ballclub as it became red hot, finishing out the season with a 34-19 record to defy the odds and clinch a playoff spot., its first since 2014.

Over the past 30 games, Detroit bats have been very active with outfielders Riley Greene and Kerry Carpenter leading the charge. Greene in that time period boasted a .278 batting average, an .838 OPS, and a .569 slugging percentage.

Carpenter, in that same time, hit .277 batting average, with a .902 OPS and a .569 slugging percentage.

The Tigers will face the Houston Astros in the best of three American League Wild Card Series starting Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 2:30 p.m. The games will be televised on the ABC network.

Go Tigers!
