I’m Joey Schwindt, honored to be the newest sports writer for LCC’s student newspaper, The Lookout.

I have lived in almost every region of the United States throughout my young life. Having been born in Montana, living in Nevada and now in Michigan, stability isn’t necessarily something I had most of my life.

I can proudly say that I have been a Michigan resident now for nine years. Michigan is by far my favorite among the three locations, and I am grateful for all the opportunities it has given me. During most of my time in the Great Lakes State, I lived in a small town called Empire on the Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore.

I attended Glen Lake High School, located in Maple City, all four years. During my senior year at Glen Lake, I was given a great opportunity to work with Brian Freiberger as an intern sportswriter for the Leelanau Enterprise, our county newspaper.

After graduating from Glen Lake High School in 2023, it was time for the next journey in my life. This brought me to Lansing Community College to run for the cross country and track programs, as well as to pursue an associate degree in marketing.

I plan on transferring to a four-year university following my time at LCC to continue running and pursue a bachelor's degree in marketing.

At the present time, I want to enjoy my time here as a Star and make the most of my opportunities. I would like to thank The Lookout Adviser Larry Hook for this incredible opportunity and look forward to covering an exciting year of sports at Lansing Community College.
