The LCC Jazz Band is taking the stage Wednesday, April 20 at 7 p.m. in a collaborative concert at Williamston High School.

Both the Williamston High School Jazz Band and the LCC Jazz Band will be featured.

Williamston High School is located at 3939 Vanneter Road. Visitors will not have to purchase any tickets at the door in order to enjoy the music.

Jonathon Gewirtz, the musical director for LCC’s Jazz Band, said he is excited for the upcoming event.

“We are looking forward to having the opportunity to perform in Williamston and sharing our music in front of a different audience,” Gewirtz said.

The LCC Jazz Band is made up of community members and high school students, as well as LCC students. Abilities vary widely between the members, but together Gewirtz has introduced and perfected multiple styles, including but not limited to Latin, soul and funk.

“The LCC band has an exciting program planned that offers different styles of jazz ranging from classic swing to funk to salsa,” Gerwirtz said.

This particular concert will showcase “Dizzy Atmosphere” and “Birks Works” by John “Dizzy” Gillespie, “That Warm Feeling” by Sammy Nestico, and many more.
