Jayden's Journal: Fun, sunny weekend

Starting on Friday, Oct. 21, my fun-filled weekend began. My girlfriend came down to visit for the weekend on Friday night, and we watched “American Horror Story.”

On Saturday Oct. 22, my girlfriend and I started our day by attending the John Ball Zoo in Grand Rapids. We are huge zoo goers, and love to see the animals.

The zoo was extremely busy; like super busy. Overall, the zoo was fun because they had the entire zoo decorated with Halloween decorations. It was just far too crowded for our liking.

In the meantime, I was catching up on my Miami Hurricanes football, watching them get beat by the Duke Blue Devils … Wow, we’ve fallen off of a cliff this season.

After the zoo and the Canes’ loss, we met up with my grandparents to attend the “Witches on The Town” event in Mason. It was a fun idea, but not our cup of tea. It was more geared toward drinking and dressing up. We did neither.

After that, my girlfriend, my grandparents and I attended BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse in Lansing. We ate, laughed and had some amazing dessert.

We ended our day watching some Detroit Pistons basketball. It was rough to see the Pistons lose a second game in a row, to the Indiana Pacers.

To start off my Sunday, my girlfriend and I enjoyed some Quality Dairy donuts (the best on planet earth). After our questionable breakfast, we decided to go see the new film “Smile” at Celebration Cinema in Lansing. The movie was good, so was the movie theater popcorn, which never disappoints.

To continue the fun weekend, we decided to grab some pizza from Blaze Pizza, set up some hammocks at Valhalla Park in Holt and, of course, watch some NFL football to check up on my fantasy football team.

It was a peaceful day in the woods, and another fun weekend. The weather was amazing.

Fall is such a beautiful time to be outside and enjoy nature. Fall is also a reminder of the frigid, gloomy winter days ahead, I write this with a sigh on my face because it’s not far away.
