The end of the spring semester is near, which means some students are preparing for graduation.
The past two years have been hectic due to COVID-19 shutting everything down and forcing people to work from home, and for students to have virtual classes.
Events such as graduation have also been held virtually. However this year is different.
LCC’s graduation ceremony will be held Thursday, May 12 at 7 p.m. at MSU’s Breslin Center in East Lansing.
“It will be the first in-person graduation (in three years),” LCC Conference Services Manager Kelly Hekler said. “We’ve held virtual graduations the past two years.”
The ceremony will also be live streamed on LCC’s website and Facebook page.
According to Hekler, masks will not be required at the ceremony. However LCC is taking safety precautions.
“We will be distancing the student and faculty chairs as much as possible,” Hekler said. “We are also providing items like masks and sanitizer to students, faculty and guests, should they want to use them.”
According to Hekler, there is no limit to how many people can attend the ceremony.
“Students who qualify for graduation need to sign up with the Registrar’s Office; however, the deadline to attend has passed,” Hekler said. “Guests of the graduates do not need to sign up to attend.”
LCC employees are invited to volunteer at the ceremony by helping with registration and check in, employee gown distribution, wayfinding, student holding area, etc.
